Gaillimh Lasta Suas le Draíocht na Nollag

As the Christmas Market opened in Eyre Square, the city lights were turned on at various points through the heart of the city, bringing an unique experience.

Gaillimh le Gaeilge worked with the Galway Business Community and together, created a special space for the Irish language in the Christmas festivities. Hector Ó hEochagáin, Choirs from Gaelscoil Mhic Amhlaigh and Gaelscoil Dara, as well as renowned singer Aimee Banks, created a very special  ‘Nollaig Shona’ this year.  Comhghairdeas leo ar fad!

An Nollaig Is fearr a bhí agam riamh

Naoise Geraghty from Scoil Shéamais Naofa Beana, received a beautiful hamper with a mixture of Irish and English language books sponsored by Kennys Bookshop & Art Galleries and he also received a voucher to the value of €300.00 for his school as the winner of the inaugural ‘comórtas aiste’ – ‘An Nollaig is fearr a bhí agam riamh’organised by the Corrib Shopping Centre.

The competition was adjudicated by Gaillimh le Gaeilge and Bríd Ní Chonghóile made the presentation to Naoise at the launch of the Christmas season in the Corrib Shopping Centre.  The Corrib Shopping Centre and Kennys Bookshop both participated in Gaillimh le Gaeilge’s annual bilingual business awards – Gradam Sheosaimh Uí Ógartaigh earlier this year.
