Gaillimh le Gaeilge aims to reach a stage in Galway city life where the sound of the language, its visibility, and its use are all part of normal everyday city life. Normalisation reaches into all city environs and effects every aspect of city living – from the purchasing of a loaf of bread to the buying of a house. It entails the movement of the language through all strands of life, from business to community level, from public to private level. It is not the compulsory use of the language, but rather the acceptance upon seeing, hearing and speaking the language as a normal and expected part of Galway life. It is within an environment of linguistic normalisation that Gaillimh le Gaeilge envisages the healthy growth and nurturing of the language.
